Enable Sync to SharePoint Workspace using UI:
- Go to Shared Documents=> Library Settings => General Settings => Advanced Settings.
- Click Yes in Office Client Availability section.
- Click on Ok.
- Sync to SharePoint Workspace option is enabled successfully.
How to Manage Syncing in SharePoint
- Sign in to your Office 365 account (work or student).
- Go to your SharePoint location.
- Choose the library or document folder you want to sync.
- If there is no sync option, then the site is not configured for syncing.
Can SharePoint sync with a server?

When syncing from SharePoint online (to create a syncronised local folder) it takes for ever for the files to sync (about 2 day to process ~3,300 files at 6.5GB).
If your organization has a Microsoft 365 work or school subscription or uses SharePoint Server 2019 and Teams, you can sync your Microsoft SharePoint and Teams files to a folder on your computer. This lets you work directly in File Explorer and access files even when you’re offline.
How does SharePoint sync work?
To sync a site library to your computer
- Sign in to your organization’s SharePoint in Microsoft 365 site with your work or school account.
- Open the library you want to sync.
- Select the Sync button. Notes:
- At the prompt, click Sync Now to start the sync app wizard.
- Select Sync Now in the wizard to start syncing.

Why is SharePoint so slow to sync?
Check you’re not syncing too many files If SharePoint sync seems to be stuck for a long time or the status shows “Processing 0KB of xMB” it could be because you have a lot of files in your SharePoint or a lot of new files to be uploaded. If you have more than 100,000 files, sync can take a long time.
Is OneDrive and SharePoint the same?
OneDrive and SharePoint have the same underlying design and features. In fact, OneDrive is actually just a single document library in a single SharePoint site collection but with a different logo. They both support: Office Online.
