How do I fix my Apple external keyboard?
USB Keyboard fixes:
- Restart your Mac. It is simple but effective.
- Check your keyboard batteries if applicable. Some USB keyboards have batteries.
- Check the USB connections. It is possible that your Keyboard is not properly connected to your computer.
- Reset the SMC of your Mac.
Try holding one of the special keys (cmd, option, fn, shift, ctrl) and then tap F3. If it works, you might have the F keys locked so you don’t have to press Fn+F3 every time.

Hello Apple Community! We currently have a computer suite of 29 Mac computers, these are intel based i7 , 16Gb DDr3 ram, with OSX version 10.8.5. These machines had been working for most of August 2013, when they were purchased and placed on this IT suite. The problems that we are experiencing now is that their USB keyboards no longer work.
Where are the escape keys on an Apple Keyboard?
The top row of the keyboard has an escape key and an eject key along with function keys from F1 to F19. To the right of the main area, the keyboard has arrow keys in an inverted T, home/end keys, and a dedicated numpad.
