How do I get better at stalls?
Practicing Stalls
- Choose a safe altitude (recommended that you be able to recover by at least 1,500′ agl dual and 2,000′ agl solo)
- Perform Clearing Turns (before practicing stalls or any other maneuver)
- Use rudder to keep the ball centered and overcome any Adverse Yaw or Left Turning Tendency from the Engine/Propeller.

How to stop stalling
- When the car starts to judder, put your clutch and brake down – that could even save you.
- If your engine does cut out, put your handbrake on to secure the car.
- Turn your engine on again.
- Find the bite, ready to go.
- Do all-round observation including your blind spot.
- Handbrake off – away you go.
What are stall characteristics?
Most modern airplanes are equipped with a stall warning device. The factors that affect the stalling characteristics of the airplane are: balance (load distribution), bank (wing loading), pitch attitude (critical angle of attack), coordination (control movement), drag (gear or flaps), and power.
What is the minimum altitude for stalls?
1,500 feet AGL
It is recommended that stalls be practiced at an altitude that allows recovery no lower than 1,500 feet AGL for single-engine airplanes, or higher if recommended by the AFM/POH. Losing altitude during recovery from a stall is to be expected.
Do pilots practice stalls?
Despite stalls arguably being the most practiced maneuver during private pilot training, we continue to hurt our airplanes and kill ourselves in stall-related accidents at an alarming rate. The problem is that the stalls we induce and experience in training usually only occur in training.
How do planes recover from stalls?
To recover from a stall, the pilot must push the nose down. Then the pilot must increase the engine power using the throttle. When air speed increases again, the pilot can level the wings and pull up to return the aircraft to normal flight.
