As for kde, the best way to lighten it up that I have found is to use fluxbox and simply call the stuff you want to use, dolphin, kontact, kwrite, kwhatever kde is getting better for sure and huge conceptual leap but for me it’s not to stable and is very annoying on my old iron. That’s my 2 cents.
