If it’s not in the quick settings menu you’ll need to tap on the cog icon at the top of the screen, or open the app drawer and find the Settings icon, then select Connected devices > Connection preferences. Inside you’ll see a toggle switch for NFC. Tap this to turn off the feature.
Does aluminum interfere with NFC?
NFC Tags can never work behind metal and if placed directly onto metal, then you need to use a special ‘on-metal’ tag.
Can you clear NFC tags?
NFC Launcher has an option to Erase Tags. Use the 3-dot Menu thing, then select Erase Tags.
Can NFC tags be read through plastic?
Standard NFC tags fail to read when placed on a metal surface. Here is a typical round 8mm adhesive sticker tag that will read with any NFC reader when placed on stone, wood, glass, plastic, paper, and other non-metal surfaces. Put the NFC tag on metal and it will fail to read.

There are, naturally, more modern and sophisticated ways to block NFC signals than a sheet of tin foil. You might have heard of devices that can steal NFC/RFID data. Modern NFC cards are well encrypted, but still susceptible, so devices of this nature make it so that thieves can’t read your cards’ NFC information.
Are NFC tags water proof?
The most resistant NFC Tag, for industrial use. IP68 certified, resistant up to 230°C. Totally waterproof and dustproof.
Can you laminate NFC tags?
Lamination does not seem to damage the NFC chip inside. I just tested it through our laminate and it still reads fine. That being said, the cards are very thick, and I would not personally laminate them. Due to the thickness, the lamination can bubble and cause air pockets within the lamination.
Can a NFC tag be used on metal?
On-metal or Anti-metal NFC Tags are specially manufactured with a protective layer made of ferrite, so that they can work also if stacked directly to a metal surface. On-metal NFC tags are meant for use on metallic surfaces.
In reality, you can often get the tags to work with just a small gap (0.5 – 1 cm) and it’s possible to simply use thick foam type stickers to create a gap. However, to do the job properly or you don’t have the space to create a gap, you should use on-metal tags.
Can a shortcut be triggered by an NFC tag?
Shortcuts define tasks and automations in the app that can get triggered several ways. Shortcut tasks can be shared across devices easily. However Shortcuts Automations cannot be shared and is currently the only way to trigger an action when an NFC tag is detected without any prompts.
What can you do with an NFC sticker?
When you use Paywave you tap your credit card against against the Paywave dock (the unit where you usually insert your credit card) and this initiates a payment from your bank to the merchant.
