How do I import MBTiles?
Import maps using MBtiles or GeoTiff in the Android app
- Tap the Create icon in Gaia GPS.
- Select the “Import File” option.
- Navigate to where the MBTiles or GeoTiff file is saved on your device (in this example they are saved to the SD card)
- Tap the file you wish to import.
What is an Mbtile file?
MBTiles is a file format for storing tilesets. It’s designed to allow you to package up many files into a single tileset. For example, mapbox. MBTiles can be used offline if they are part of a published Mapbox style.
How do you export a map in TileMill?
Add the layers to the TileMill project, and style the map how you wish. Once the you are happy with your map and you are ready to export the map select the Export button in the top right corner of the application
Where do I Save my offline MBTiles tiles?
Once the tiles have been created you can select the View exports button and click the save button. This will then prompt you with the location you your tiles you have created. Then navigate to the “OfflineLayers” Folder with in geoodk folder. (geoodk/OfflineLayers)
How to get the MBTiles file on the Devide?
Inside the folder you just created pasted the .mbtiles file there. From here you will see a list of layers that are on the devide. Select the on you want to be displayed on the map. Currently there is only functionaly to show one layer at a time. This is for performace reasons. Once the layer has been selected navigate to the layer.
