How do I keep my CPU at maximum frequency?
Just go to control panel/power options and check preferred plan: Balanced instead of high performance (as recommended) and there you go. Now CPU frequency will oscillate as needed.
Is it bad to constantly overclock?
With so much variance, it’s easy to question if overclocking is worth it at all. And for many, it’s not. A moderate overclock, one that you can run all day every day, will boost your PC’s performance across the board, but it might not be worth the hassle. But, it’s basically free performance.
Is it bad to run CPU at max clock?
Leaving it on balanced should be fine for gaming. It’ll use max frequency when you’re actually running applications. Only time I’ve found speedstep to be bad is when you’re doing a lot of on-demand processing off an idling CPU.
Is the CPU always at the max frequency?
08-28-2019 03:35 PM It’s been a couple of weeks (?) that the CPU of my Dell inspiron 7370 is always running at maximum frequency (around 3.80 GHz), even if the system is idle. For this, the fan runs at full speed making noise.
Where do I Find my CPU frequency settings?
Expand the highlighted menu, then adjust the value to your liking. This lowers and raises your CPU frequency and can be seen in task manager under the “CPU” tab. (*Note, that each of these values will only be saved on the current power plan selected, up at the top where is says “High performance [active]” in the image.)

Is it worth it to change my CPU frequency?
Btw, if new cpu runs under the freq of 2.5GHz at most, everything is ok, and the performance is twice more than the older. so I think it is worth to change my CPU. thanks a lot! Also, I want to mention that there are below commands to use CpuFreq subsystem without using any tool (like cpufrequtils as it is used to achieve the same purpose).
