How do I know what JST connector I have?
JST connectors are mostly identified by the length between one contanct to the centre of another contact. There are always between two to higher contacts in a single line. Some families have multiple rows as well. This length is the pitch of the connector type and determines the family that the connector is a part off.
Are all JST connectors the same?
We start with the JST XH series. Its pitch of 2.5 mm is effectively identical to the 0.1″ pitch commonly found on prototyping breadboards. After the XH series, the pin pitch gets narrower, the wires get thinner, and the connectors are more fragile through PH (2.0 mm), ZH (1.5 mm), GH (1.25 mm), and SH (1.0 mm).
What is JST GH connector?
GH connector. Developed for to PDP, LCD or small electronics equipments. This low insertion force type connector realizes easier mating operation. The basic concept of the contact part of this connector is equivalent to the performance proven SHL connector.
How many amps can a JST connector handle?
JST connectors carry low currents (5 amps) and are most commonly found in on-board electrics such as servos, gyros, receivers and receiver switches.
What are the different types of JST connectors?
Connector series
| JST Series | Pin-to-Pin Pitch | Voltage (Volt) |
|---|---|---|
| PH | 2.00 mm (0.079 in) | 100 |
| ZH | 1.50 mm (0.059 in) | 50 |
| GH | 1.25 mm (0.049 in) | 50 |
| SH | 1.00 mm (0.039 in) | 50 |
Like the above series, also surface mount only however featuring positive latching mechanism and a completely different type of mating surface. VH is a larger type of JST connector featuring positive latching and is generally used in high voltage and/or high current connections.
Which is the smallest JST through hole connector?
ZH is one of the smallest pitch types of through-hole JST connector. Types smaller than this are all SMD. I’ve never used or come across one myself. Please drop me a comment if you know of a common application. Numbers in bold can be changed to order connectors with a different number of positions. SZH-002T-P0.5
Where can I find a positive latch JST connector?
Generally found in consumer products (for example: Japanese brand LCD televisions) which need to perform well in HALT testing. They feature a positive latch instead of the weaker friction latch used by their PH/XH cousins. One rather unexpected feature is that they do not accept the same contacts as PH/XH.
What kind of crimp tool does JST use?
JST offer high quality hand crimp tools for their popular connector families. These are mostly made by the German contract crimp tool manufacturer Wezag GmbH, will crimp the associated contacts perfectly and to specification, but are all expensive. I have listed the part numbers for these where available.
