How do I save an SVG as a PDF?
This is what you need to do in Inkscape to convert the svg to PDF:
- Open Inkscape and click File->Open to load the file for conversion.
- Click File then Print or press Ctrl+P and in the Print window select novaPDF as the printer.
- Click on Print and the SVG will be saved as PDF.

Why does Inkscape not convert SVG to PDF?
I’m guessing the file was not originally from Inkscape, or it got saved as a pdf then got brought back into Inkscape. For whatever reason, the code is missing and trips-up the conversion process to pdf. The test2.svg file converts to PDF just fine here.

Update the question so it’s on-topic for Graphic Design Stack Exchange. Closed 5 years ago. I have a problem when exporting (or “saving as”) some .svg files into .pdf using Inkscape. For some reason, some random “small” parts of the pictures are not rendered.
Why is the gradient missing from Inkscape file?
So, we can see there is a fair bit missing from the code for the gradient, like half. If we insert the missing code into the document with a text editor, the objects carry over into the pdf. I’m guessing the file was not originally from Inkscape, or it got saved as a pdf then got brought back into Inkscape.
