Disable the Task reminder
- Navigate to your personal settings page. For Salesforce Classic: Access Your Personal Settings in Salesforce Classic.
- Go to Calendar and Reminders.
- Select Activity Reminder.
- Deselect Set default task and all-day appointment reminders to.
- Click Save.
Are there users not receiving email notification for task assignment?
Currently users receiving notifications only, if they are subscribed to Group conversations. But I know, that support page say this is not neccesary to receive notification if task is assigned to someone. But it looks like, that it is not this case. If you go to task list settings -> Advanced settings, you should have “E-mail notification” setting. Check if your list has this part set to Yes, then change and test if that works for you. I believe the below is what you’re looking for. That should do it – cheers!

Why do I not receive e-mail when task is completed?
It’s not a bug…Microsoft changed how Plans are created: by default plans are created with the Send notifications about task assignment and task completion to the Plan’s conversation feed. disabled so that’s the reason why you are not receiving e-mails when a task is assigned or completed…to fix it, just edit the plan and enable that setting
