How do servo drives work?
A servo drive receives a command signal from a control system, amplifies the signal, and transmits electric current to a servo motor in order to produce motion proportional to the command signal. Typically, the command signal represents a desired velocity, but can also represent a desired torque or position.
How Slow Can a servo motor go?
In a normal position servo, 1mS will make it move from wherever it was to one end of its travel, at the fastest the servo can manage. 2mS will make it move to the other end. If you step between 1 and 2mS length pulses, then it will do this as fast as it can.
Can you control a servo with a computer?
Computer-controlled servos enable industrial robots to manufacture everything from vehicles to smartphones. For this maker challenge, students work through the engineering design process as they control a simple servo arm by sending commands with their computers to Arduinos using the serial communication protocol.
How to make a robot with a servo?
Once students have a working servo, have them: Attach a Popsicle stick to the servo to make a rudimentary arm that you can control. Have several groups team up to make a robotic hand (see Figures 3-5), or even an arm. Create a robot that can write the letter C.
How does Beckhoff industrial PC control system work?
With the CX series of Embedded PCs, Beckhoff has combined PC technology and modular I/O level to form a space-saving DIN rail unit in the control cabinet. Industrial PC software and tools are optimally adapted to industrial requirements. The individual components complement each other to form a complete solution for our systems.
