How do you add a field to a record type?
Create a custom formula field in Lightning
- Click the gear icon.
- Click Object Manager.
- Click the object where you want to create the field.
- Click Fields & Relationships.
- Click New located on the right side.
- Select Formula as the Data Type then click Next.
- Enter the name of the field in the Field Label.

What does record type label mean in Salesforce?
Record type is an object in salesforce .When ever you will create a record type for any object it wil create a record in RecordType Object . So if we will create record type for different object with same name then also we can create as RecordType object has field Sobject Type which will tell us which object record type this is basically .
What happens when I change ” record type label “?
When i try to change the “Record Type Label”, it gives the popup saying that merger templates will be effected. what are these merge templates and what are other effects of changing the Label.

Have you used the same record type any where ,as record type level is your record type name and the api name is your developer name . Incase you have used any where then it will impact else ignore that message . Merger template is your email template where we are using merge fields in the template . let meknow if it helps .
How are developer name and field name different?
Also we have Developer Name and Name two fields .Basically the Level of record type name is teh name of record type name and developer name of record type name is the API is the developer name ,you can take an example of Field name .level is different as Api Name here in case of record type __c/__r wil not ba there .
