What is difference between header and Footer?
A header is the top margin of each page, and a footer is the bottom margin of each page. Headers and footers are useful for including material that you want to appear on every page of a document such as your name, the title of the document, or page numbers.
Like footers, footnotes reside at the bottom of pages. However, while a footer repeats the same information on every page, a footnote applies only to the page for which the note provides additional information. Word places a short separator line between the body of the document and the footnote.
How do you insert a header into a footer?
Under the ‘Insert’ tab, select ‘Header’ or ‘Footer’: Insert text or other document information required. Use section breaks if you require no header or a different header on the title page. Always include page numbers in the footer with the ‘Normal’ style.
Return to the video alternative. Headers and Footers can be used to hold document information but should never hold important document content such as filename, document owner etc. As screen readers don’t read it out this information should also be within the content of the first page or the last page.
Where does the footer go on a website?
The footer should fall at the bottom of the overall site hierarchy. (That is where it is located after all.) The footer should also contain a hierarchy of elements within its “container.” The most important elements (often contact information, call to action or site map) should be the most prominent.
Headers and footers can be different for odd and even pages. To make different headers and footers for odd and even numbered pages, click the “Different Odd & Even Pages” check box in the “Options” section of the “Design” tab under the “Header & Footer Tools” heading so there is a check mark in the box.
