How do you cut a section in SketchUp?
How to Cut a Section on SketchUp
- Open SketchUp and open your drawing.
- Click the “Section Plane” tool from the Guide toolbar or the “Tools” menu.
- Click on a section to cut into it. Press “Esc” to undo the cut.
What is a cutting plane and how does it relate to a section?
Cutting Plane. A imaginary plane that slices through an object to reveal its interior features in section view. Full Section. A view of an object that shows its interior detail as if it has been cut in half.
What does a cutting plane line look like?
Cutting plane lines are thick lines that run through the center of the object that the interior wants to provide an interior view of. Two perpendicular lines with arrows showing in which direction the interior of the object should be viewed are drawn at the end of the line.
What is a section plan?
Plan drawings are in fact a type of section, but they cut through the building on a horizontal rather than vertical plane. The direction of the plane through which the section is cut is often represented on plan drawings and elevations by a line of long and short dashes, called a section plane.
What is a section that looks inside an object?
A sectional view or a section looks inside an object. Sections are used to clarify the interior construction of a part that cannot be clearly described by hidden lines in exterior views. By taking an imaginary cut through the object and removing a portion, the inside features may be seen more clearly.
What are the parts not usually sectioned?
In addition to thin structural features, parts not sectioned also include standard mechanical elements such as shafts, bolts, screws, nuts, rivets, keys, pins, bearings, and gear teeth. The shaft, bolts, and nuts of the assembly are not sectioned even though they are cut by the cutting plane.
What is a cutting plane line for?
Engineers use cutting plane lines on the plans they are drawing up to differentiate what is inside an object and what lies outside it. The cutting plane line bisects the object and provides a view of its interior features.
How do you cut along the transverse plane?
Using a scalpel carefully cut along the transverse plane about halfway down your banana person. Look at the banana organs exposed by the transverse cut and imagine what you would see if the banana were a human. Using the bottom half the body you just cut, use the scalpel to cut along the frontal plane.
How to reduce size of section plane?
I had assumed that section planes were sized by the extents of all entities of the context, but having just deleted and purged some expansive topos which I thought were causing section planes to be over-sized and unwieldy for working on the relatively small building, I’m finding them about as big as before.
What’s the best way to plane rough lumber?
Work around knots, cracks and edges with deep tree bark. If there are several parts coming from the same board, draw yourself a paper sketch to remind you of the layout. Then cut the board to lengths corresponding to the parts. Cut each part at least 2 in. longer than the final length.
Can you cut along the frontal plane of the body?
Using the bottom half the body you just cut, use the scalpel to cut along the frontal plane. Look at the banana organs exposed by the frontal cut and imagine what you would see if the banana were human. The class will divided into two groups.
