How do you dry PETG filaments?
The easiest option is to use an oven! All you need to do is just put the filament spools into the oven, set the temperature, and wait a few hours. The more you leave the filaments, the more they dry.
Is PETG sun resistant?
The UV grades of PETG are UV resistant for outdoor applications against weathering effects. PETG can also be fabricated using a number of techniques such as vacuum forming, hot and cold line bending, drilling and milling.
How do you get moisture out of a PETG?
Probably the easiest and most common way of drying filament is throwing it in the oven. Just set the temperature to right below the glass transition temperature of the plastic, and leave it in there for four to six hours for the moisture to evaporate. The longer you leave it, the drier it’ll get.
Can PETG be print without heated bed?

Do you need to dry PETG?

Is PETG water sensitive?
Wet PETG is significantly more brittle than dry, and the interlayer adhesion is significantly reduced. Fortunately, most of the filaments we print with aren’t very susceptible to hydrolysis at room temperature without the presence of an acid or a base. Nylon and PC can absorb enough water in 48 hours to ruin prints.
Is PETG OK for outdoor use?
PETG is a very tough material with good thermal resistance. Its use is universal but especially suitable for mechanical parts and both indoor and outdoor use. PETG has almost no warping, so printing large objects isn’t a problem.
How durable is PETG?
Very durable, it’s more flexible than PLA or ABS, but also a little softer. PETG is also very strong, it’s not brittle but can be scratched more easily than ABS which is harder. PETG plastic makes a terrible support structure, because it sticks so well.

Can 3D printer filament be too dry?
It gets brittle, almost like it is too dry. Additionally, wet filament can even cause pops and splatters as it prints. It’s not always that obvious, but you may hear popping sounds as the moisture in the filament gets hot in the extruder’s print head and the moisture in the filament turns into steam and expands.
Does PETG need heated bed?
Printing PETG requires a heated bed at 70°C – 80°C. We generally don’t recommend heating your heated bed above the glass transition temperature of PETG (80°C ). A heated chamber is not required to successfully print parts in PETG.
