How do you find the intersection of two polygons?
I have no very simple solution, but here are the main steps for the real algorithm:
- Do a custom double linked list for the polygon vertices and edges.
- Find the intersection points by comparing each pair of edges.
- Split each edge adding vertices (and nodes in your linked list) where the segments intersect.
What is intersection polygon?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Self-intersecting polygons, crossed polygons, or self-crossing polygons are polygons some of whose edges cross each other. They contrast with simple polygons, whose edges never cross.
Do polygon lines intersect?
Line crosses the polygon if and only if it crosses one of its edges (ignoring for a second the cases when it passes through a vertex). So, in your case you just need to test all edges of your polygon against your line and see if there’s an intersection.
What is a convex triangle?
Non-convex. A polygon is convex if all the interior angles are less than 180 degrees. If one or more of the interior angles is more than 180 degrees the polygon is non-convex (or concave). All triangles are convex It is not possible to draw a non-convex triangle.
Are polygons overlapping?
For polygon geometry, any area that is occupied by two or more features is considered an overlap. For line geometry, only lines that overlap completely (a line segment is incident with another line segment) are considered overlapping. Lines that intersect at a point are not considered overlapping.
Are 2 parallel lines coplanar?
Parallel: The two lines are coplanar but never intersect because they travel through different points, while their direction vectors are scalar multiples of one another. Skew: The two lines are not coplanar but instead lie on parallel planes.
How to calculate the intersection of two convex polygons?
The intersection of two convex polygons is also a convex polygon, which consists of two types of vertexes, i.e., a) the intersection points of edges of the two convex polygons and b) the vertices of the polygon which are located inside the other convex polygon. Once all these points are found, the intersection of two convex polygons is obtained.
How to find the intersection point of two lines?
Finding Intersection Point of two line segments. We can use Linear algebra to calculate the intersection point of two given line segment. The equation of a line in a 2-D space is written as: Line: Ax+By = C. So, for given points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), we can calculate A, B, C values:
What causes a polygon to have two overlapping corners?
Some edge cases, such as two overlapping corners or intersection on a corner can cause some duplicates corner added to the polygon. We can easily get rid of these with such small utility function:
Is there a C + + implementation of intersection over Union?
This is a C++ implement of intersection over union (IoU) ratio calculation, which requires no third-party libraries. And the IoU calculation method is applicable to rectangles, rotated rectangles and arbitrary convex polygons. A test demo is also included in this project, which can verify the validity and accuracy of the IoU calculation method.
