How do you invite an external team member?
To add a guest to your team in Teams:
- Select Teams. and go to the team in your team list.
- Select More options. > Add member.
- Enter the guest’s email address. Anyone with a business or consumer email account, such as Outlook, Gmail, or others, can join your team as a guest.
- Add your guest’s name.
- Click Add.
Can I use teams to invite external users?
Yes. You can invite third parties to meetings, chat one-to-one online and make voice or video calls. All they need is an internet connection and modern web browser; they do not need to install Teams. And you can invite them to join your Teams account as a guest.
How do I add an external user?

Invited users can access your environment using their own login credentials once a license and a security role are assigned to them. You don’t need to create a new user account and temporary password for these invited users in your own Microsoft 365 tenant.
