How do you make raycast objects ignore?

How do you make raycast objects ignore?

To anyone with the same issue, simply add the object to the “Ignore Raycast” layer and then it works perfectly….make raycast ignore an object

  1. using UnityEngine;
  2. using System.
  3. public class placeTower : MonoBehaviour {
  4. private GameObject levelControl;
  5. private bool isTrackingMouse;

How does raycast work Unity?

“Raycasting is the process of shooting an invisible ray from a point, in a specified direction to detect whether any colliders lay in the path of the ray.” Raycasting in Unity3D is broken down into two distinct parts, 2D and 3D. Both of which are physics objects.

How do I make raycast ignore an object in unity?

add the following line to the Start() or Awake() method : gameObject. layer = LayerMask. NameToLayer (“Ignore Raycast”);

Why are raycasts at different angles in Unity?

Because I would like to keep the number of rays dynamic, the angle in which they go should be dynamic to0. For example, if Im using 3 raycasts they should ‘shoot’ away at a larger angle than if Im using 6 rays. hope the image clears up what im trying to say..

Do You Want Your raycasts to be 45 degrees?

Raycast obstacle avoidance can be annoying with a variable height hilly environment because if the rays are too long he might thing a seemingly traversible incline is an obstacle. Do you want the maximum left and right raycasts to be 45 degrees like in your picture there?

How to calculate the angle of a raycast?

(transform.forward + (transform.right*0.5)) would be a 22.5 degree angle to the right. With that in mind you could probably factor the desired number of raycasts into an equation that changes that multiplier in a for loop to generate all the directions you need.

Is it safe to change the Order of layers?

Just in case you change the order of the layer accidentally or you modify it in the future, passing the names directly, from my point of view, it’s safer. In case that is not the problem, check what is forward for the GameObject whose transform you are using to cast the ray.
