How do you move the Ender 3 nozzle?
To move the nozzle around you can either move it by hand, this is easy on the Y axis just slowly slide the build plate forwards and backwards. To move the X axis either slide the nozzle slowly across the Y axis by hand or both can be moved by using the Printer itself.
What is home offset in 3D printing?
For many 3D printing enthusiasts, getting the perfect initial layer dictates the quality of the resulting print. A key to this is setting the right Z offset, which is the distance between the hot end and the Z home position on 3D printers. Ideally, this would match the distance between the hot end and the print bed.
Where is the nozzle on an Ender 3?
But if you look at the bed of an Ender 3 after it has been auto homed you will find that the nozzle is actually off the bed by about 5mm. It is not in the bottom left hand corner of the plate as you would expect. The consequence of this is that if you try and use the full surface area of the plate you will be off center.
What should the home be on Ender 3?
Having the head home slightly off the bed in the X and/or Y direction is a good thing, because it means the Z homing can’t crash into the bed if the bed height is misadjusted. On my Ender 3, the X axis homes slightly into the bed, but the Y homes such that the nozzle tip is in front of the bed.
Why is my Ender 3 auto home off the plate?
Here’s Why. Auto home on a Creality Ender 3 (and presumably all other 3D printers) moves the bed and the extrusion nozzle into a default “zero” position. In essence the bed and the extrusion nozzle are moved so they hit the end stop microswitches which signal to the controller board where the bed and nozzle are.
Where is the Z endstop switch on Ender 3?
If you can’t get it below the nozzle with the wheels all the way tightened, your Z endstop switch must be installed incorrectly. The Ender 3’s Z endstop bracket is supposed to fit against the corner of the aluminum extrusion just below it so that it doesn’t need adjustment, but it’s possible to mount it incorrectly higher.
