How do you record an aircraft intercom?
Turn your Smartphone or Tablet (iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone, etc.) into a Cockpit Voice Recorder! Just plug the 3.5 mm (4 conductor) plug into the headset jack on your Smartphone and your standard aviation headset into the adapter and you’ll be able to record audio through your aviation headset.
How does an aircraft intercom work?
Operation of the intercom is quite straightforward. Power is supplied to the unit through the aircraft Master power switch or through an auxiliary switch placed in the intercom power line. The intercom On/Off/Isolate switch is not used to power down the unit. Switch the unit ON via the aircraft’s master/aux switch.
Do airplanes have intercoms?
Aircraft intercoms are always band-limited and use AGC and noise gating. If at all possible contact the pilot beforehand to ask what intercom connector and pinout the aircraft has. You may have to contact the aircraft’s maintenance department as well; they may have a suitable lead you can borrow.

Can you record ATC audio on a plane?

Is it safe to use an aircraft intercom?
Here’s why: 1. Stabbing homebrew cabling into a $3000 aircraft intercom system (or more if you have fancy panels) is not worth the risk of damage if you ask us. Using factory soldered and tested cables is much safer.
Can a GoPro headset connect to the intercom?
Edit: I’m looking for a good sound quality comparable with that which you will have while sitting in the aircraft listening to the intercom. For the GoPro specifically there are audio recording cables you can buy which connect to your intercom jack and provide a pass-thru connection for your headset.
