At what temperature does PLA go soft?
60C to 65C
The glass transition temperature of regular PLA is 60C to 65C (140F to 150F). Our’s is about 6C lower than that due to the grade we use. Its melting temperature is 173C to 178C (343F to 352F). Therefore, you want to set your oven temperature to about 55-65C when annealing PLA.
Why is my PLA filament so brittle?
The main reason for brittleness of filament is due to moisture absorption. ABS, PLA, and other common filament materials are mildly hygroscopic, so they will readily absorb moisture from the air. This is especially true if you live in a humid environment.

If the filament does not come out of the tip straight and smooth it needs to be cleaned sometimes it will come out of the tip and curl back up and ball on the tip during loading….Bad. My solution is to have a few extra tips I load ABS into them to push out the PLA, and then i soak them in a baby food jar with acetone.
