How does a laser diode driver work?
Laser Diode: The function of the Laser Diode Driver is to provide current to the laser diode. The wavy arrows indicate light exiting the package. A huge array of applications exist for laser diodes.
What is pulsed laser diode?
Pulsed laser diodes are designed to be driven with high-current pulses, producing short, high-power optical pulses. This means that a 100-ns optical pulse is followed by a pause of 100 µs; i.e., very short pulses are available with repetition rates in the kilohertz range.
Why pulsed output is needed in laser?
Pulsed pumping is also required for three-level lasers in which the lower energy level rapidly becomes highly populated preventing further lasing until those atoms relax to the ground state. These lasers, such as the excimer laser and the copper vapor laser, can never be operated in CW mode.
What is reverse recovery time of diode?
Reverse Recovery Time is the time it takes a diode to reduce the reverse current to zero when going from forward bias to reverse bias.
What is a laser driver circuit?
A driver circuit is a circuit which can limit appropriately the amount of current being fed into the laser diode, so that it can function correctly. Too much current and the laser diode will blow. Too little current and the laser diode will not have sufficient power to turn on and operate.
What is a laser diode driver?
Laser diodes drivers are electronic devices which are used to supply one or several laser diodes with the required electrical drive current. Most of them obtain electrical power from the public grid, but there are also battery-operated devices.
What is laser drivers?
What is a laser driver? It is an electronic module designed for driving a laser diode by a constant current or a current that keeps the optical laser power constant, with extremely low noise and high stability. We have been developing and manufacturing laser drivers for 22 years and accumulated a full line of laser driver products.
