How does a Reveal monitor work?
Reveal LINQ™ devices are heart monitors about the size of a memory stick that continually record your heart’s activity over long periods of time. The monitor is very small and easy to insert, so once it’s in place you can get back to your normal day-to-day activities.

How do they remove a loop recorder?
If a pacemaker (or defibrillator) is placed, the loop recorder can be removed at the time of the pacemaker surgery. A loop recorder is implanted over the left chest wall underneath the skin under local anesthesia. The procedure only takes a few minutes.
How is Linq placed?
The Reveal LINQ ICM insertion procedure is performed in a hospital but it’s a simple and minimally-invasive procedure that can be done quickly. A small incision — less than 1 cm — is made in the skin on your chest. Using a specifically-designed tool, the Reveal LINQ ICM is inserted just under the skin.
What does a pacemaker control?
A pacemaker is a device used to control an abnormal heart rhythm. Depending on your condition, you may have a pacemaker with 1 to 3 flexible, insulated wires (leads) placed in one or more chambers of your heart. These wires deliver the electrical pulses to adjust your heart rate.
What happens if you don’t remove a loop recorder?
What will happen if I don’t have an ILR removed? If you decide not to have an ILR removed, then you will have the device remain under your skin. This may become uncomfortable. The advice from the makers of the device is to take the ILR out once it is no longer needed.
Can you shower with a 2 week heart monitor?
Don’t swim or bathe for the entire time you’re wearing your Holter monitor. However, if you have a wireless Holter monitor, you’ll be shown how to disconnect and reconnect the sensors and the monitor so that you can shower or bathe. Holter monitors aren’t usually affected by other electrical appliances.
Does a loop recorder have to be removed?
You may keep your loop recorder for up to 2 or 3 years. When you no longer need it, you will need to have it removed in a similar procedure.
