How does a static IP work?
Simply put, a static IP address can be thought of as a non-changing internet address for a business. Much like a physical street address, a static IP address can tell other computers or servers on the internet exactly where a specific computer is located or connected to the internet.
Why would you need a static IP?
Convenient remote access: A static IP address makes it easier to work remotely using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or other remote access programs. More reliable communication: Static IP addresses make it easier to use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) for teleconferencing or other voice and video communications.
How do I set a static IP address in Windows?

When you might need static IPs. Most Fiber customers do not need any static IP addresses. The vast majority of Internet features work without static IPs, including web browsing, email sending and receiving, video streaming, and voice over IP (VoIP).
