How does a transistor audio amplifier work?
A transistor acts as an amplifier by raising the strength of a weak signal. The DC bias voltage applied to the emitter base junction, makes it remain in forward biased condition. Thus a small input voltage results in a large output voltage, which shows that the transistor works as an amplifier.
Why is my amp on but no sound?
If the amp drives that just fine, then you have a problem with your speakers or wiring. As to how I know an output transistor is bad, I had an electronics place try to fix it before and they said that it had a shorted output transistor, but they couldn’t find the ones it needed.
