How does BJT work in saturation mode?
Saturation refers to a region of operation where maximum collector current flows and the BJT acts like a closed switch from collector to emitter . In this mode the BC junction forward biases and maximum current flows. The collector current cannot increase any more, even with an increase in base current.
What are the benefits of JFET over BJT?
FET gas high input impedance of several mega ohms. The noise produced by a FET is less than that produced by a BJT. FETs are less effect by radiation compared to BJT. FET has no offset voltage at zero drain current and hence it forms an excellent signal chopper. FETs are voltage controlled devices. FETs have better thermal stability.
Why does BJT is called bipolar?
It’s called bipolar because the conduction takes place due to both electrons as well as holes. BJT’s are used in a discrete circuit designed due to availability of many types, and obviously because of its high transconductance and output resistance which is better than MOSFET.
How is MOSFET different from BJT?
Difference between BJT and MOSFET. The BJT is a bipolar junction transistor whereas MOSFET is a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor. A BJT has three terminals namely base, emitter and collector, while a MOSFET has three terminals namely source, drain and gate.
What is the difference between BJT and power BJT?
BJT works like as amplifiers or Oscillators. BJT works as individual discrete components or part of intefrated circuit. Power BJT allows full controm over turn on and turn off operations .
What do you mean by reverse active in BJT?
Reverse Active Mode Operation of BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) The reverse active mode is just opposite to the active mode because in this mode of operation the emitter-base junction is reverse biased while the collector-base junction is forward biased.
What is the purpose of biasing a BJT?
The purpose of a biasing circuit is to establish an operating point for the BJT, which provides linear operation and good stability with regard to variations of temperature and manufacturing parameters (e.g. β). We will investigate three resistive biasing schemes in this lab.
What are the applications of BJT?
Converters: BJTs can be used in vast majority of converters.
What is the reverse beta of BJT?
Re: Reverse beta of BJT Hi, Reverse beta is ratio of emitter current to base current in inverse-active region (collector-base junction forward biased and the emitter-base junction reverse biased). So if transistor operates in forward-active region and you interchange collector and emitter connections, it’ll probably operate in reverse-active region.
