How does Reddit Upvoting and Downvoting work?
When you’re logged in to Reddit, you’ll be able to upvote and downvote items to help determine their rank. You get one vote per item, but you can change it after it’s logged. The number appearing between the up and down arrows is the submission’s score: the number of upvotes minus the number of downvotes.
How do I know how many Downvotes I have?
After a certain reputation (1000), you can. At 1000 (100 in private beta and 750 in public beta) rep, you can access this information. Click on the current vote tally and it will change to show the number of upvotes and downvotes.
How do I view Downvoted comments?
Check the front page of /r/listofcomments to see if your comment has been submitted. If it hasn’t, contact /u/IranianGenius or /r/IranianGenius. User of note? Other comments from EA heavily downvoted.
Can you see who Downvoted you?
No. Voting is an anonymous function on reddit. Nope.
What does it really mean to upvote / downvote a post?
The parts of Reddiquette that address voting really bother me, because they do a lot to perpetuate this. Voting affects where reddit displays an article on various pages that it generates. It also makes the article appear in your “liked” and “disliked” tabs, which you may or may not have made public.
What does it mean to upvote and downvote music on Reddit?
For example, r/ListenToThis instructs its users to upvote music that they have never heard before (contributes to the subreddit) and downvote—now discouraged in lieu of reporting—music that is popular (does not contribute).
Is the upvoter / downvoter userid zapped from the votes table?
Confirmed that the Upvoter / Downvoter UserId ‘s are zapped from the Votes table, e.g. by running this data.stackexchange query. Note however that ‘favourited’ and bounty Userid’s seem to be retained 🙂 (Thanks, mom!)
Can a person downvote you on Stack Exchange?
No, I will not go after those who downvoted me, but it’s interesting to know, anyway. Voting is anonymous and not even the moderators have access to this information. The only people I suspect that can see is the Stack Exchange development team.
