How does the find nearest tool in ArcGIS work?
The Find Nearest tool uses either a line distance or a travel mode to measure between input features and near features. For each input feature, the specified number of near features is ranked by distance from the input feature.
How many features do you need for find nearest?
Find Nearest requires two inputs: an input feature layer and a near feature layer. There is a maximum of 5,000 features allowed in each feature layer. The near distance can be based on a line distance or several different travel modes using time or distance as the measure for nearest features.
How to find nearest feature in same attribute group?
Add a Distance field (this field will contain the distance from an input feature to the nearest feature in the same attribute group) 4. Run the submodel, Iterate Near, to execute the Near tool once for each attribute group (see the submodel steps below)
How are the near features ranked in ArcGIS?
For each input feature, the specified number of near features is ranked by distance from the input feature. The Network Analysis privilege is required to run Find Nearest with travel modes. Refers to a line drawn on a sphere. A geodesic line drawn on the globe represents the curvature of the earth’s geoid.
Where is the near feature in ArcGIS Pro?
The value is in the linear unit of the input features coordinate system or meters when the Method parameter is set to Geodesic and the input is in a geographic coordinate system. If no near feature is found, the value will be -1. NEAR_FC —The catalog path to the feature class that contains the near feature.
What is the near Dist value in ArcGIS?
NEAR_DIST —The distance between the input and near feature. The value is in the linear unit of the input features coordinate system or meters when the Method parameter is set to Geodesic and the input is in a geographic coordinate system. If no near feature is found, the value will be -1.
How does the near distance work on ArcGIS?
The near distance can be based on a line distance or several different travel modes using time or distance as the measure for nearest features. Both feature layers can be points, lines, or polygons when using straight-line distance. Travel mode options are only enabled if both feature layers are points.
How to search for near features in ArcGIS Pro?
The radius used to search for near features. If no value is specified, all near features are considered. If a distance but no unit or unknown is specified, the units of the coordinate system of the input features are used. If the Geodesic option is used for the Method parameter, use a linear unit such as kilometers or miles.
