How does the IR beam break sensor work?
The IR receiver is connected to power (via a resistor) and has as 0.1uF capacitor (very important, apparently). The output from the receiver connected to pin 8 goes low when it detects 38kHz modulated IR light and high when the beam is broken.
Can a remote control use an IR reflector?
This is a really easy hack for a remote control that can boost its signal power by creating a reflector behind the IR Emmiter. And it Definitely works. Now I can actually Use the controller.
What kind of foil to use for IR reflector?
Since we’re going to use aluminum foil, we need to cover the IR Emmiter’s wires so that it does not accidentally affect the circuit, rendering the remote useless. An ironic conclusion if that be the case. The reflector is is made of a folded aluminum foil peice. Folding and size of the tin foil will also depend on the remote size.
Why does the sensor go high when the reflector goes off?
This is mainly for aiming the sensor at the reflector. Only when the beam has been broken for 2 secs pin 12 will go high and trigger the relay. This is because I want people (and cars) to be able to move through the beam without triggering it. Only if a car is PARKED the relay goes off.
What should I do if I Break an IR beam?
If the status LED won’t turn off when you break the beam, you probably aren’t blocking the IR signal well enough. The detector is very sensitive, and IR bounces off many things, so you may need to separate the LED and detector by several feet and make sure you’re fully blocking the IR beam.
How to increase the range of a beam cut detector?
Shortly after i published my IR Short Distance Beam Cut Detector circuit, i began receiving emails and comments, asking how to increase the range. As a matter of fact, that circuit was designed for a very specific application: it had to be precise and sensitive enough, because i wanted to use it for the straw separator of my coffee maker machine.
Is there a beam break sensor for Arduino?
A cheap beam break sensor utilising a reflector panel instead of a transmitter / receiver setup. Capable of handling long distances. I found These LEDs with a half-angle of 5 degrees able to emit 100mA of power. They also emit light at 940nm which is perfect for the receiver. Vishay TSSP4038 IR receiver.
