How does the rigidbody act under the control of Physics?
See in Glossary to act under the control of physics. The Rigidbody can receive forces and torque to make your objects move in a realistic way.
How does the mass of a rigidbody affect free fall?
Hints The relative Mass of two Rigidbodies determines how they react when they collide with each other. Making one Rigidbody have greater Mass than another does not make it fall faster in free fall. A low Drag value makes an object seem heavy.
How is the rotational motion of a rigid body measured?
The general definition of moment of inertia, also called rotational inertia, for a rigid body is I = ∑ m i r i 2 and is measured in SI units of kilogram‐meters 2. The moments of inertia for different regular shapes are shown in Figure 2. Moments of inertia for various regular shapes.
What happens when two rigidbodies bump into each other?
If two Rigidbodies bump into each other, the physics engine will not calculate a collision unless both objects also have a Collider attached. Collider-less Rigidbodies will simply pass through each other during physics simulation. Add a Collider with the Component->Physics menu.
What are the different types of rigid bodies in MassFX?
The available choices are Dynamic, Kinematic, and Static. For details, see Rigid Body Types: Dynamic, Kinematic, and Static. When on, MassFX converts the selected Kinematic body to a Dynamic one at the specified frame. Available only when Rigid Body Type is set to Kinematic.
When to use continuous collision detection in rigidbodies?
Rigidbodies set to Continuous Dynamic will use continuous collision detection when testing for collision against this rigidbody. Other rigidbodies will use Discrete Collision detection. Used for objects which the Continuous Dynamic detection needs to collide with.
How do you add force to a rigidbody?
Adds a force to the Rigidbody. Force is applied continuously along the direction of the force vector. Specifying the ForceMode mode allows the type of force to be changed to an Acceleration, Impulse or Velocity Change. Force can be applied only to an active Rigidbody.
How is force calculated on a rigidbody in Unity?
Force is applied continuously along the direction of the force vector. Specifying the ForceMode mode allows the type of force to be changed to an Acceleration, Impulse or Velocity Change. Applied Force is calculated in FixedUpdate or by explicitly calling the Physics.Simulate method. Force can only be applied to an active Rigidbody.
How does iskinematic affect the motion of a rigidbody?
Controls whether physics affects the rigidbody. If isKinematic is enabled, Forces, collisions or joints will not affect the rigidbody anymore. The rigidbody will be under full control of animation or script control by changing transform.position. Kinematic bodies also affect the motion of other rigidbodies through collisions or joints.
