How does the STM32 work in I2C?
The STM32 is acting as master in the I2C Communication while Arduino UNO is used as a slave device. When a button is pressed in the master i.e. STM32, an LED will light up in Arduino. Similarly, when a button is pressed in Arduino, an LED in STM32 will light up.
Why does stm32f103c8 not receive nacks?
I’m using the I2C on PB6/PB7 for communicating with another controller – ESP8266 as master and STM32F103C8 as slave and the I2C on PB10/PB11 as master to communicate with sensors. But after a while (random) the ESP8266 receives only Wire error “2:received NACK on transmit of address” on Wire.endTransmission () until I reset the F103C8.
Which is better Arduino or STM32 for communication?
STM32 has more features than Arduino board. So it would be great to learn about communication between STM32 and Arduino by using SPI & I2C bus. In this tutorial, we will use I2C bus for communication between Arduino and STM32F103C8, and will learn about SPI bus in next tutorial. To know more about STM32 board, check other STM32 projects.
How to program stm32f103c8 without FTDI programmer?
The same library is used in programming STM32F103C8. It can be programmed using USB port without using FTDI programmer, to learn more about programming STM32 with Arduino IDE follow the link. This tutorial has two programs one for master STM32 and other for slave Arduino.
What do you need to know about I2C?
I2C is a multi-master multi-slave protocol that need only two wires viz., SDA (Serial data) and SCL (Serial Clock) for communication (there should be a common GND). An important thing to remember is that the two wires are in open drain configuration and must be pulled HIGH with appropriate pull-up resistor to be able to drive logic HIGH on the bus.
What to do if ADDR flag is not set in I2C?
This would make i2c master to get stuck waiting for ADDR flag to be set. These are the reasons why its recommended to use ADDRand STOPFusing events and manage data transfers using interrupts or DMA. We would use i2c event interrupt to handle this.
Is the I2C slave protocol a serial protocol?
Jan 7, 2018 I2C is a serial protocol and its greatest advantage over other protocol is that it requires constant two wires irrespective of number of devices connected. In this article, we shall discuss on how to design your own custom i2c slave device on stm32f103.
Which is Arduino address do you use for I2C?
Since, Arduino is the slave, we must begin the I2C Communication by using the slave address. This address must be same as the one defined in the master code (or vice-versa) i.e. slave address mentioned in Slave Code and Master Code must match.
