How is braided sleeving measured?
Unless otherwise indicated, all wire loom, heat shrink, and braided sleeving is measured by the diameter of an open circle. While some companies may use the measurement of a flattened tube or the outer circumference, the industry standard is to measure tubing by nominal I.D. (interior diameter).
How do you finish braided sleeving?
It simply requires some color matching electrical tape and a pair of scissors. Just run your cables and/or wires through the sleeving and terminate the ends with a piece of electrical tape tightly wrapped around. Alternatively, you can use the tape and wrap the braided sleeving around it. See pictures.

Can braided cables get wet?
I would advise against submerging the cables in water, due to the fact the stranded copper cable will wick the moisture up into the jacket. If you’re dead set on “washing” them, I would do it with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle (do not fully immerse the cables, due to the wicking effect again).
How do you stop braided cable from fraying?
Applying heat shrink, adhesive tape or superglue are effective methods for securing the braid when the cable is cut. This can usually be concealed within the fittings.
How do you install braided wire sleeves?
Clamp near the left-hand end of the braided sleeving with your left hand. With your right hand, push the sleeving along its axis towards your left hand. It should compress, and expand radially. Once compressed/expanded, push far enough over that your right hand can grasp the bundle of wires along with the sleeving.
