How long do ISP keep records?

The U.S. government mandates that ISPs keep records of customers’ internet history for at least 90 days. If you don’t want your ISP (or the government or hackers) to track your internet history, invest in a virtual private network (VPN).

Internet service providers track and profit from your browsing habits and history. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) can see everything you do online. They can track things like which websites you visit, how long you spend on them, the content you watch, the device you’re using, and your geographic location.

An internet connection record (ICR) is a record, comprised of a number of items of communications data, of an event about the service to which a customer has connected to on the internet, such as a website or instant messaging application. It is captured by the company providing access to the internet.
Does EE keep search history?
The onus is on ISPs – the companies that users pay to provide access to the internet – to store the browsing history of its customers for 12 months. That includes fixed line broadband providers, such as BT, TalkTalk, Sky and Virgin, but also mobile phone providers such as EE, O2, Three and Vodafone.

They said that Data may be retained for a maximum of 12 months. From what I have learned that my ISP (Three) always keep the communication for a year, but I would be curious to know how long does Virgin keep the data for the purpose of retention before destroying them.
Are there any ISP’s keeping your browser history?
In the United States, your Internet access provider (ISP): I’m not aware of any keeping your browser history. They don’t really have access to that specific data. Usually the only time that data is available is: Court ordered intercept: your line is being tapped (all data is logged).
How long do ISPs store your DHCP logs?
MAYBE your DHCP logs are stored for 6 months, usually not much longer (in the United States). Worst case, 1 year on that. They store little else beyond that. The sites you visit… I can’t really speak to them… like say Google, Amazon, Yahoo… they will vary, but 5 years seems very excessive to me for general HTTP logs.
How long does ICR data have to be retained?
The basic ICR data has to be retained for 12 months, after which it can and will be discarded (this is at ISP level – I can’t speak to the police side if they access the data within that 12 month period).
