How much do Virgin charge for going over data?
With so much to stream, download and enjoy online, sometimes your megabytes just don’t stretch far enough. When your monthly data allowance does dry up, we charge you £3 extra per 1GB per day to carry on using it. These excess charges apply until your monthly allowance refreshes on your next billing date.

- Visit m.virginmedia.com/account.
- Visit your app store and search for “Virgin Mobile My Account” for the balance app.
- Text Balance to 789789.
- Call 789 and press option ‘1’ for your remaining allowances.

How do I buy data on virgin?
There are 3 different ways you can buy data add-ons:
- From Your Account.
- From our mobile My Account app.

What is inclusive data virgin?
An allowance is a number of inclusive minutes, texts and data that’s included in your tariff. You won’t be charged any extra for using these services while you are within your allowance. Our business mobile plans include unlimited calls and texts, so you always know where you stand (2)
Why is my virgin bill so high?
This is shown because we bill for your services in advance, so when a change is made we bill from the day the change took effect to the end of your advance billing period. The individual services you’ve changed will be listed on the bill together with the overall adjustment charge and / or credit.
What happens if I exceed my data plan?
If you go over your data allowance on your mobile phone, you may get more data automatically and be charged for it. If you go over your data allowance for your home internet, your internet speed will slow down.
How much GB per month do I need?
1GB (or 1000MB) is about the minimum data allowance you’re likely to want, as with that you could browse the web and check email for up to around 40 minutes per day. That’s still not much, but should be fine for lighter users.
Does Netflix use data?
Netflix offers 4 mobile data usage settings: You can watch about 4 hours per GB of data. Wi-Fi Only: Stream only while connected to Wi-Fi. Save Data: Watch about 6 hours per GB of data.
How do I get my Virgin Mobile data to work?
Android Manual Data Configuration:
- Go to Apps > Settings> More Networks> Mobile Data ticked > Access Point Name > Menu Key > New APN.
- In the Name field type: Virgin Media Ireland.
- In the APN Field type the word: internet.
- Please power your phone off and turn back on again.
- You should now be able to use data.
Is Virgin good for data?
