How often do ZIP codes change?
Five-digit ZIP codes also change, but they do so infrequently. Not so for ZIP+4. The +4 on a ZIP code can be changed as frequently as once a month, based on things like how many postal employees are working, who is working what route, etc.

What if I put the right address but wrong zip code?

How does a post office change its ZIP code?
With automated processing, new areas can be added to existing post offices by just adding new delivery routes. Post office closings woulds be more common, but still rare. If an office closes, it may not change the zip code for the addresses it serves but the delivery people will be working from a nearby town.
Which is more complete census tracts or zip codes?
