When I click on a feature I get its ID, fire an AJAX request and display some relevant info about the feature, on the page outside of the map area. I used a Select interaction.
Why is my icon not showing on the map?
I believe that the problem may be the Style, because when I remove it from the feature, a point is shown on the map, however when I try to add a style to that Point (that it is the icon), nothing is shown on the map.

Most of the examples show how to use a Vector layer, rather than a Marker layer, to handle click events. Using a Vector layer makes making markers more mind-boggling.
What happens when you click on a marker icon?
The click handler will get a parameter that is the Feature being clicked on. From there you can retrieve attributes attached to the feature.
