How to calculate point to point distance in ArcGIS?
Some solutions have suggested converting vertices to points and then estimating point to point distance, but I fear that vertices alone aren’t an accurate representation of edge (especially since these polygons have a large extent and are rectangular in shape). I am using ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop.
How to calculate latitude and longitude in ArcGIS?
In ArcGIS 9.x and 10.0, by using VBA Script Code in the Field Calculator, a field of type double can be populated with latitude or longitude values. Open the attribute table of the point feature class in ArcMap.
How to convert polygons to lines in ArcGIS 10.2?
I am using ArcGIS 10.2 for Desktop. Convert your polygons into lines (by which each edge of the polygons – a line between the consequent vertices – will become a line feature in the output feature class.) After the conversion, the output lines will preserve their “parent” polygon ID. Use GP tool: Feature To Line.
How is the distance between two polygons calculated?
Distance is always calculated to the boundary of a polygon feature, not to the center or centroid of the polygon. As noted above, if a feature is completely inside a polygon, the distance between the feature and the surrounding polygon is zero.
How to calculate point distance of a polygon?
Point distance will compute the distance from points to the boundary edge of the nearest polygon. The tool does not respect layer selections or query definitions, instead it uses the underlying feature class directly. If your wetlands are a subset of your polygons, you have to export them into a separate feature class before.
How to use near tool in ArcGIS Desktop 9.3?
In ArcGIS Desktop 9.3, with an ArcInfo license you can use the Near tool for this. In ArcMap make a feature selection on the polygon layer for type ‘X’, load them into the Near tool with the points as the input feature and the polygons as a near feature and it should work.
