Create a folder in SharePoint Server 2010. By default, the New Foldercommand appears in SharePoint document libraries. A library owner or a user with design permissions for the library can enable the New Foldercommand. Navigate to the site containing the SharePoint document library for which you want to add the folder.
SharePoint team sites include a document library by default, however, you can add additional document and other libraries to a site as needed. For more info about document libraries, see What is a document library?
Where are file templates stored in SharePoint library?
Where the file templates are stored in the library When a document or form library has a default file template, it is stored in the Forms folder of the library. Open the library in File Explorer to see the Forms folder which contains the file template for the library.
It all started with SharePoint 2010. To maintain the performance of a document library (and the servers behind the scenes), Microsoft introduced the 5,000 view item limit on a document library. What that meant was that while you could put more than 5,000 items in a single library, you could not surface up (display) more than 5,000 items on a view.
On the menu bar, select + New, and then select Folder. If you don’t have folders as an option on the + New menu, they may be turned off. A library owner or a user with design permissions can enable the Folder command. For more info, see Turn folders on in SharePoint.
How to create a document template in SharePoint?
By default, a document library has a file template, called template.dotx, but you can change this file if you need to. To specify a different template, you need to first create it in a program that is compatible with SharePoint, such as Word, and then save it to the Forms folder of a library.
