How to import FBX mesh weights in Blender?

How to import FBX mesh weights in Blender?

The mesh on the left was imported via FBX. It appears as if all vertex weights are normalized so that for a given vertex, the weights add up to 1.00. The mesh on the right was imported via DAE/Collada. The vertex weights appear to be normalized so that for a given vertex, the weights add up to 8.00.

What happens when you use combine per vertex normals in FBX?

When you use the Combine per-vertex Normals option in the FBX Importer, the Maya FBX plug-in performs the inverse operation of the Split per-vertex Normals option in the FBX Export window. This can result in incorrect UV texture maps (see the note below).

Where do I find import options in FBX?

For information about general import options, see Import Options. Note: The FBX Import options will only appear when you have selected an FBX file for import. Select File > Import and choose FBX Import or FBX_DAE Import from the File Type drop down.

Why is frame rate not displayed in FBX importer?

If the FPS (frame rate) is not a standard rate (24, 25, 30, 48, 50, 60, 100, 120 fps), it is not displayed. For example, an FBX file that uses a frame rate of 8 frames per second does not display in the Importer statistics.

How to calculate skin weights in Maya FBX?

1. Unbind the skin (deleting the history in the unbind options) 2. IF there are multiple components select all the geometries at once and then rebind. 3. Re-paint all skin weights ensuring all bones have some influence over the rig. 4. Bake any CRV animations to the skeleton (make sure you select each jnt individually)

Why do some games not work with FBX?

This is usually due to an older game that FBX doesn’t support. In some cases, an anti-cheat application may be incorrectly blocking FBX – but FBX works great with the major anti-cheat apps, like Battleye, EasyAntiCheat and Punkbuster. Either way, we’d like to know – go to the Support tab and send us a report.
