How to select bands in Google Earth Engine?
Selecting bands of image collection in Google Earth Engine? I want to use the Landsat 8 surface reflection collection (LANDSAT/LC08/C01/T1_SR), which contains the 7 spectral bands plus some extra mask bands. I want to run my algorithm on just the 7 spectral bands, but I’m not sure how to select these.
How to create a band visualization in Google Earth?
Visualization parameters include: Use the bands argument to select the band (s) you wish to visualize. Provide a list of either one or three band names. With regard to multi-band images, the first three bands are selected by default.
How are band values assigned in Earth Engine?
If a single-band image is added to a map, by default Earth Engine displays the band in grayscale, where the minimum value is assigned to black, and the maximum value is assigned to white. If you don’t specify what the minimum and maximum should be, Earth Engine will use default values.
How to display an image in Google Earth Engine?
// Display the image on the map. Click the Run button at the top of the Code Editor and observe that a very gray image appears on the map. Don’t worry, you’ll make it look better soon. If the syntax of any part of this example in unfamiliar, be sure to review the JavaScript for Earth Engine tutorial.
How to import Sentinel-2 imagecollection into Google Earth?
With the code snippet below, you will import the Sentinel-2 ImageCollection (the same method can be used to import an ImageCollection for other types of multi-temporal or multi-spectral data including Landsat, vegetation index, rainfall, temperature etc).
How to import Landsat 8 data into L8?
Either import that dataset using the Import button and rename it to l8, or copy the ID into the image collection constructor: It’s worth noting that this collection represents every Landsat 8 scene collected, all over the Earth. Often it is useful to extract a single image, or subset of images, on which to test algorithms.
How often does Landsat 8 visit the same spot?
The type of Reducer you use defines how Earth Engine handles overlapping pixels. Landsat 8 visits the same spot on the Earth every 16 days. That means that over a 6 month period, there will be approximately 12 images (and more where the scenes overlap).
