Is Azure Active Directory going away?
Microsoft is (mostly) getting rid of one of the lower-end editions of Azure Active Directory. In response to a few questions on Twitter this week, Alex Simons, Microsoft Corporate Vice President, Identity Division, said “Azure AD Basic is going away. It’s in the process of being removed from docs and marketing pages.
Is Azure AD deprecated?
Azure AD Graph is deprecated. Microsoft will continue technical support and apply security fixes for Azure AD Graph until June 30, 2022 when all functionality and support will end.
What does Azure ad run on?
Azure AD is a new system that Microsoft designed from the ground up to support cloud infrastructure. Azure AD uses REST APIs to pass data from one system to other cloud applications and systems that support REST (which is most cloud applications). Unlike Windows AD, Azure AD is a flat structure in a single tenant.
What happens if Azure AD goes down?
When Azure AD is down, that means that logins to Azure, Office 365, Teams, and any other cloud-enabled or custom applications are also down. The Microsoft cloud was crippled yesterday for about five hours.

What is Azure AD Group Policy?
Azure AD Domain Services supports simple Group Policy in the form of a built-in GPO each for the users and computers containers. You cannot target GP by OU/department, perform WMI filtering or create custom GPOs.
Does Azure AD premium include ADFS?
ADFS is a Server role for Windows Server and is not a part of the Azure AD Premium service per se. There are some features in Azure AD Premium that can enhance the SSO with an on premises federation solution such as ADFS.
