Is high poly bad?
Hi. Decimating meshes is a bad idea. It can mess up uvs. If the mesh is not above 20k polygons, then don’t worry about it.
How do I lower the poly count of a model?
To reduce the polygon count of a model with Blender 2.7:
- Open the model with Blender then select the object polygon you want to lower.

- When the “Decimate” window appear, the polygon count is displayed.
How many polys can marmoset handle?
Toolbag has no polygon limit, however, performance depends on the specific GPU that you’re using.
How to improve viewport performance in blender?
for your scene view, switch to “only render” – in my case this may increase the viewport fps by 25~50%. Create a second viewport in solid mode view to work with objects. Also handy to have the scene mode in GLSL textured mode for a good textured preview.
Is high-poly better than low poly?
As we’ve seen, Low Poly models are great for situations where interactivity and speed are crucial, while High Poly models are ideal when detail is all-important. However, each project is unique, and polygon counts differ greatly based on model complexity, so it’s essential to find a level of detail that works for you.
What is low poly vs high-poly?
Both terms come from polygon modeling that is based on building 3D models from polygons. Those are small closed geometric shapes that are combined into one mesh that works as a surface of 3D objects. So, logically, high-poly models are made of many polygons while low-poly contain fewer of them.
How do I lower my tri count?
A Decimate Geometry options menu appears on the left side. While the model is selected and in Edit Mode, select Mesh > Clean up > Decimate Geometry. In the Decimate Geometry options, set Ratio to the percentage by which to reduce the triangle count.
