Is it possible to return a page with a 404?
Returning the view with a 404 make no sense. 404 is the status code for page not found. To also return a page is just plain strange. Expect browser inconsistencies if you do this.
What does it mean to get a 404 error on a website?
The HTTP error 404, or more commonly called “404 error”, means that the page you are trying to open could not be found on the server. This is a client-side incident which means either the page has been deleted or moved, and the URL has not been modified accordingly, or that you have misspelled the URL.
Why do I get 404 when I remove authorize attribute?
I get 404 not found. If I remove Authorize attribute it’s working . Could you please guide me to solve that issue? It happens when your API is not authorized and your redirect URL doesn’t exist. When authentication fails, Web API will send a 401 code.
How to return 404 with ASP.NET MVC view?
You should set TrySkipIisCustomErrors property of Response as true. I would throw a 404 exception and create a custom exception filter that return a not found page for 404 errors. The built-in HandleError filter doesn’t handle 404 errors. Thanks for contributing an answer to Stack Overflow!
What does it mean when you get a 404 Not Found message?
Something along the lines of ‘404 Not Found’. A 404 error is the standardized HTTP status code. The message is sent from the webserver of an online presence, to the web browser (usually the client) that sent the HTTP request. The browser then displays this error code.
Why do I get a 404 Not Found error when calling a web API?
I have been dealing with a “404 Not Found” error when calling a Web API in an ASP.NET MVC project for some time and I just do not find the problem. This is the second Web API that I write and I had the exact same issue in the first one which was solved by including the port number in ” http://localhost:port/path_to_web_api” when consuming it.
