Is the ESP8266 Blink sketch not blinking LED?
Some ESP8266 – V01 boards won’t blink integrated led (only works with GPIO2), so connect it to a resistor (~150 ohms), in series with an external led to ground. I don’t know why… is just the way that it is…
Why is the ESP8266 not responding to the AT commands?
Seems like you didnt used any type of voltage divider or level shifter between the Arduino Tx -> ESP8266 RX Line. The ESP8266 isnt really 5V friendly. Too Bad the Arduino outputs 5V on all of it Pins. You could still try it With a Voltage Divider using 2 Resistors or a level Shifter in hope it works.
How to control ESP8266 with Arduino serial monitor?
Start by uploading blink sketch to your Arduino then connect it to your ESP8266 like this: TX-TX and RX-RX. Now open Serial Monitor and send AT command and see if it responds. If so then you can control it using your Arduino by wiring it back to TX-RX and RX-TX.
Are there any problems with the esp01 board?
I have some problems with my ESP01 board… Sometine it work very well and after a random time (1 day, 2 day, 10 minutes, 1 hour…), the esp01 stop working, it not responding to the AT commands sent by the arduino. If I plug directly the esp on an FTDI USB SERIAL converter: same thing, no response from the esp.
What to do if your ESP won’t Blink?
@pjparsons : If your ESP doesnt have any built in usb-serial communication hardware, it will require an external one to connect to ur computers USB, such as CP2102 usb-ttl converter or RS232 FTDI adaptor. But as u already have one built-in u can directly connect a usb cable to it which shows as a direct com port.
Is there an Arduino example that won’t Blink?
Arduino IDE says it did compile I don’t know if it adds anything but in ESP-01 it uses a constant called BUILTIN_LED instead of LED_BUILTIN I had to use the PIN 2 too. Then the LED on the board would blink. The example may need to be updated. @igrr I consider this straight up user error, but you have set milestone for 2.4.0.
Why does gpio2 not blink during upload?
It blinks during upload because GPIO2 is configured as UART0_TXD by bootloader, so it acts in the same way as GPIO1. I think example should be updated to note that for ESP12E/F, pin has to be changed to 2. Ok, so maybe I had this messed up with my tests on the Wemos but on any of those I had 2.2.0 blink the led I’m pretty sure.
