Is there a problem with mirror modifier scaling?
In the mirror modifier settings enable ‘Clipping’ or set the 3d curser to the objects origin and set the pivot point to the 3d curser (.key) Well I have always clipping enable when using mirror modifier and still have the problem.
How to scale a mirrored cylinder in Blender?
I have a simple cylinder which is mirrored on both the X and Y axis. When I scale it along the X axis, the two halves of the cylinder overlap, rather than scale as it would before the mirror modifier was applied: I haven’t used Blender in a while and I know this is a simple fix.
What happens when you enable mirror modifier in Blender?
If it is enabled but vertices are beyond the mirror plane and outside of the Merge Distance , the vertices will not be merged. But as soon as the vertices are within Merge Distance they are snapped together and cannot be moved beyond the mirror plane.
What is the distance between vertex and mirror in Blender?
The maximum distance between a vertex and its mirror copy at which they are merged together (being snapped on the mirror plane). Needs Merge to be enabled. Distance from the bisect plane within which vertices are removed. With this option you can mirror the UV texture coordinates across the middle of the image.
How do you change mirror modifier in Blender?
Richard Marklew: Position the 3d curser where you want the origin the be. In your image above it looks correct, then Ctrl+Alt+Shift+C / origin to curser. Or inedit modeselect all the vertices and drag them all to the left. Ensure you have ‘Do clipping’ selected in the mirror modifier settings.
How to scale a mirrored object in Blender?
To get it to scale completely as it would have before deleting half and mirroring, you must use the 3D cursor as the pivot (. ). The 3D cursor also has to be in the center of the cylinder. The easiest way to get it there is selecting middle vertices and pressing Shift S >Cursor to selection.
How to merge vertices at the center point in a mesh?
On the modifier properties there is a checkbox called Clipping (shown as 1 in the image bellow), it will merge the vertex as it touch the edge (prevent vertices from going through the mirror during transform).
