Should leading be the same as font size?
Some type designers recommend a leading between 120% and 145% of the font size.
Which is the actual point size of a line?
The point is a unit of measurement for typesetting a page; the size of a point has varied considerably throughout the history of printing, but it is now standardised at 1/72 of an inch or approximately 0.353 mm.
What is the space between two lines of text called?

The vertical space between lines of type is called leading (rhymes with sledding). Leading is measured from the baseline of one line of text to the baseline of the line above it. Baseline is the invisible line on which most letters sit.
What does it mean to have loose leading in fonts?
The same is true of fonts that have shorter ascenders and descenders. Type used in larger sizes, such as headlines or logos, can sometimes benefit from tighter leading as well. Loose, or positive, leading is adding spacing so that the leading is greater than the point size used for type.
What is the point size of a font?
POINT SIZE – includes all three of these elements. Point size measures from the height of the highest ascender (peak) to the baseline of the lowercase x. It then measures from the lowest descender (valley) of the font to the top of the lowercase x.
How big of a font do you need for lowercase letters?
Taking our previous example, which uses 3/8 of an inch as the minimum height requirement of the font, you will still have to go to a larger font size than 27 pt, if you are using lowercase letters.
How tall should a 27 pt font be?
However… Theoretically, if you choose a 27 pt. font, no matter the font, it should be 3/8 of an inch tall, using our 72 point to 1 inch ratio. Unfortunately, many fonts are not standardized (think handwritten, funky, artsy fonts), so these ratios may not apply.
