Should the Bowden tube move?

Should the Bowden tube move?

As the extruder is either pushing or retracting, the filament inside the tube is still moving as much as intended regardless of the amount of play of the Bowden tube… no? therefore, retracting will not be affected at all, nor would the extruding process.

Does Bowden tube length matter?

Re: How do I work out the correct Bowden tube length Ideally the shorter the better but it will work if its long, you just have more problems with filament control as the filament can stretch/compress and flex in the tube. This means that you get more blobs/strings etc… Retraction tuning is harder with a longer tube.

Why is my extruder grinding?

The direct cause of filament grinding comes from the extruder attempting to push the filament. Too much extruder gear tension. Fast or too much retraction. A non-level print bed that’s too close to the nozzle.

How do you stop filament grinding?

The slower rotation of the extruder motor can help avoid grinding issues. You can adjust this setting by clicking “Edit Process Settings” and selecting the Speeds tab. Adjust the “Default Printing Speed,” which controls the speed of any movements where the extruder is actively extruding plastic.

How do you unblock a Bowden tube?

As a short-term fix, grab a twist drill bit that is on the order of 1.5 mm diameter (assuming a 1.75 mm tube). Using a hand drill, slowly and gently drill out the clogged filament.

How do you release a Bowden tube?

How to clean the Bowden tube

  1. Tip: Pay attention to the orientation of the first Bowden tube when removed from the printer.
  2. Remove the material from your Ultimaker.
  3. Remove the clamp clips from both sides of the Bowden tube.
  4. Loosen the Bowden tube by pressing the tube coupling collet and pull the Bowden tube out.

How do you get the filament out of Bowden tube?

Removing filament that is stuck outside of the hotend

  1. Remove the collet clip from the Bowden coupling.
  2. Push the collet down as far as possible.
  3. A close-up of the teeth that grab onto the tube.
  4. Pull the Bowden tube out while still holding the collet down.

How much does Bowden tube move in Ender 3 Pro?

I have an Ender 3 Pro with upgraded Bowden capricorn tube. The tube will move approximately 1-2 mm during normal operation, though it will not come out of the coupler at all.

Can a Bowden tube shift in a PLA extruder?

I’ve never had a system using the bowden, so that part of 3d printing is new to me. I’m using 3d Solutech PLA. If it’s just the pressure fitting on the brass coupler that shifts in/out, or the PTFE tube shifting slightly in/out but remaining in the coupler, that shouldn’t be a problem unless it’s so loose it can come out entirely.

What kind of extruder does PLA Ender 5 use?

I have an Ender 5 with an aluminum extruder that was printing beautifully for a few days after building it. I received a Capricorn bowden tube and new couplings as a gift, and replaced those, and now I have stringing issues I can’t solve.

Why does the Bowden tube shift in and out?

I’ve swapped the tubes, the couplings, the filament, I’ve checked for clogs, and put clamps on the collars, but no matter what I do, the tube shifts in and out during retractions by about .25 – .5 mm. I suspect that has something to do with the stringing, as nothing else has solved it. Any suggestions are appreciated.
