What are anchor boxes in Yolo?

What are anchor boxes? YOLO can work well for multiple objects where each object is associated with one grid cell. But in the case of overlap, in which one grid cell actually contains the centre points of two different objects, we can use something called anchor boxes to allow one grid cell to detect multiple objects.

What Yolo predicts?

YOLO predicts the coordinates of bounding boxes directly using fully connected layers on top of the convolutional feature extractor. Predicting offsets instead of coordinates simplifies the problem and makes it easier for the network to learn.

Is YOLO9000 and YOLOv2 same?

YOLOv2 is state-of-the-art and faster than other detection systems across a variety of detection datasets. YOLO9000 is a real-time framework for detection more than 9000 object categories by jointly optimizing detection and classification.

How does Yolo work to predict k bounding boxes?

YOLO doesn’t search for interested regions in the input image that could contain an object, instead it splits the image into cells, typically 19×19 grid. Each cell is then responsible for predicting K bounding boxes. An Object is considered to lie in a specific cell only if the center co-ordinates of the anchor box lie in that cell.

How does the object score work in Yolo?

Yolo also introduces an object score in addition to classification probabilities. The object score is an estimation of whether an object appears in the predicted box (It doesn’t care what object, that’s the job of class probailities). If a prediction has low object score, it will be discarded in post-processing.

How big is the output of Yolo 2?

As you can see, yolo’s output is nothing like what we’ve seen before. There are 416 x 416 pixels in the image but the output is 13 x 13. How on earth do we interprate the results? Let’s put Yolo aside for a moment and think about how would we do object detection in one path? Here’s my naive solution:

How is the Yolo algorithm based on regression?

YOLO algorithm is an algorithm based on regression, instead of selecting the interesting part of an Image, it predicts classes and bounding boxes for the whole image in one run of the Algorithm. To understand the YOLO algorithm, first we need to understand what is actually being predicted.
