What are board to board connectors used for?
Board-to-Board (BTB) Connectors. This type of device is engineered to provide signal connections between two printed circuit boards (PCBs). Our board-level interconnects are manufactured to give you more performance in the harshest applications.
Why do you need a correct footprint for a PCB?
As such, the footprint must be built to exacting standards for the correct assembly of the PCB. If the pads are not in the correct location, the part won’t solder correctly. If the footprint outline is incorrect, other parts may be placed too close together for assembly.
How to calculate board to board connector stacking?
A good starting point when calculating PCB connector stacking is to calcualte the board to board connector height. This is measured from the printed circuit board face to its highest insulator point above the PCB is known as its profile. See some examples below:
What are micro pitch board to board connectors?
Board stacking interconnects on 0.40 mm, 0.50 mm, 0.635 mm, 0.80 mm, and 1.00 mm pitch with stack heights from 2.3 mm to 8 mm, vertical and right-angle orientations. 0.40 mm and 0.50 mm pitch Micro Blade & Beam ultra slim, ultra low profile connectors.
Why do connectorised boards need to be potted?
Potting connectorised boards usually does just fine, and is a very, very common thing in the marine electronics game. If a connector is going to have reasonable reliability in air, it must make a gas tight joint at least over some of the mating surface area, so why would potting be a problem?
How are MICTOR board to board connectors made?
The MICTOR connector family is based on the microstrip concept of two rows of signal contacts divided by a center power ground plane. The connector system uses the solid ground bar between the rows of signals to provide low crosstalk and excellent high-speed signal characteristics.
Why do you need pegs for board to board connectors?
Locating pegs (also referred to as locating posts, alignment pins or board locks) are used to assist alignment of connectors to the PCB. Locating pegs are particularly useful when using surface mount components. Pitch refers to the spacing between individual pins.
