- Permission set licenses extend the functionality of user licenses. With permission set licenses, you can assign more permissions to users than their user license supports.
- Permission sets extend users’ functional access without changing their profiles.
What is feature licenses?
A feature license entitles a user to access an additional feature that is not included with his or her user license, such as Marketing or Work.com. Users can be assigned any number of feature licenses.
How are permission set licenses different from user licenses?
Permission set licenses incrementally entitle users to access features that are not included in their user licenses. Users can be assigned any number of permission set licenses. You won’t be able to assign a permission set license until after the user has been created (there is a related list on the user detail page).
How does an admin assign a license to a user?
As an admin, you can assign permission set licenses to a user to augment the functionality provided by the assigned user license. After assigning user and permission set licenses, you take additional steps to determine the functionality that a given user has, by assigning profiles and permission sets.
